Kinja'd!!!

When I got home from work today, the girls wanted to go outside and play. I happily obliged, as it has been a crazy week in he salt mines. My oldest got this “Power Wheels” for Christmas from my dad last year, but has always been scared of driving it. As usual, when she got to the end of the driveway, she freaked out and wanted to get out.

Today her little sister slid over into the driver’s seat and more or less told big sis to hold her beer and went for it. I helped her figure out how to steer for the first 50 feet, and she had at it. She drove it up the block and back three times, then parked it in the garage next to Mommy’s car.

The whole time she kept saying, “I’m driving! I love it!”

We got one Oppo. We got one. I’m so damn proud!

Nice. I think my 3 yr old is big enough for one, just don’t want to give up garage space for it...

“No Chevy Avalanche Power Wheels for me, those are for plebs, only a Denali will do for me!”

That’s awesome! My boys are the same way, the oldest can’t figure it out to save his life, but son #2 does great. Funny how that works out. One out of two isn’t bad, glad you got one.

Understandable. Of course my daughter had to fall in love with a huge one too. It was killing me having the thing take up so much space, but go unused. I’m really glad it’s going to get used now.

If you decide to get one, the classic Power Wheels Jeep is much more compact.

I’ll take it!

The big one loves the truck, but driving it befudles her.

She has very refined taste. My neighbor one house over has a matching 1:1.

awesome -

my niece and nephew are the same way - nephew is 4 years older and tentative/cerebral, little niece is bonzai all day, everyday.

The weird thing is the little one is the more cerebral of the two. The big one gets scared or frustrated, and just gives up, but her little sister stays calm and thinks her way through it.

That would suck! They both like cars, but the little one is our driver apparently.

Nice! I’ve been teaching Jonah how to play Texas half em. It’s us blast. Before that we were playing war, but I knew he could handle something more complicated.

Most Jalopmdad moment I’ve had was letting him shift gears in the Galant

I was a bit nervous because Jonah was 100% dinosaur crazy when he came to live with us, but I’ve rubbed off on him a bit and he’s about as obsessed with cars now. One thing we have him in common is that we both like collecting information and facts. So natural once I started teaching him about cars he just wants to learn more.

Also, that’s a nice ride Grandpa got them. Those are not cheap. My nephews love off roading theirs.

No way. The Barbie jeeps I got have to be about the same size. I got crappy ones off Craigslist and bad batteries, our kids and neighbor’s kids took turns pushing it around & other steering.

I measured them before we bought one, the Jeeps are about a foot shorter and a bit narrower too.

I had done the same thing with a cheap used one. My dad bought the new one for her.

The funny thing is, in addition to being braver, she’s also the thinker of the two of them. The older one will try doing just about anything, but as soon as she gets scared or frustrated, she gives up. The little one stays cool and thinks her way through it.

CL is the way to go. The only reason they got a new one, is I talked my dad into buying it.

It is a really nice one. For a couple years, out oldest would always ask to go to TRU to “play with the big cars.” She always gravitated towards that truck. She never asked to have one, and had no idea they could move.

I must confess, I laid a bit of a guilt-trip on him to get my dad to buy it. My mom passed away before my oldest was born, and I told Dad, “C’mon, you’ve spent about 5% on these girls, as you would have if Mom was still alive. Buy your grandbaby a Power Wheels.” Dad gave me a sheepish grin, and agreed.

Set-up a tow hook on it, make her a trailer for her stuff animals and then she can learn to back-up a trailer.

...and you’ll get the Best Father in the Universe Award.

Well, in her defense: It’s a Denali. Let’s hope she’ll stay clear of those anyway ;-)

Beaten by a friend usually does the trick over here. Beaten by a younger sister has to be game changer!

Ha! The neighbor one house over has a matching 1:1 Sierra Denali. He’s a nice guy.

I sure hope it’s a game changer. The little one put more “miles” on that thing yesterday in an hour, than the big one did all last year.
